Apps (small highly focused applications)
provide users with endless possibilities.
Apple,
Android, and Microsoft each
have their own app stores.
If you were a software developer, which
market would you create apps for?
Apple took the lead early, with Android
(Google) quickly gaining market share. Microsoft will debut their complete
app store in Feb, 2012 with the release of Windows 8. Count on Microsoft to
hit the ground running with a focus on business users. Special Private
Marketplaces will be established for companies that need to lock down access
to authorized apps. Nothing is certain about the
future of this new fragmented software distribution system. Will competition
will be good for consumers or cause confusing fragmentation. Even within
each store you must be careful to choose apps designed for your device. Consumers want apps that can be
used on multiple devices and be transferred to new devices. Here are some
favorites you might search for next time you're in the store. Please e-mail
info@softwaresense.net with your
favorites. |
